Surf lifesavers are great.  The red and yellow colours have a lot of power on the beach.  The flags, the towers, the whistles, the wildness as the clubs compete on knee-boards ploughing through six foot waves. Our surf lifesavers are part of Australia.  Many of these good people are volunteers, who when away from their day jobs, sit in the searing sun watching us have fun in the sea and make sure we’re safe.  It’s good stuff. So Boardies Day is a good reason to ditch your work kit, don your best looking swim shorts and raise money to support this very Australian cause. And of course, it’s straight to the beach after work.
